RISE AGAINST HUNGER

Rise Against Hunger is a growing global movement to end hunger by empowering communities, nourishing lives and responding to emergencies (www.riseagainsthunger.org).

Please mark your calendars for our 2024 meal packaging event – Saturday, February 17!Set-up volunteers will begin at 9:00am.We will package 10,000 meals from 9:45am – 12:00pm in the Parish Hall.

“Our volunteer-packaged meals both provide caloric intake and contain 20 essential vitamins and minerals. Research has shown that one in three people in developing countries is adversely affected by vitamin and mineral deficiencies. Our meals address the top concerns for micronutrient deficiencies (iodine, iron and vitamin A) and work to prevent other common deficiencies among at-risk populations. Addressing these deficiencies helps prevent blindness, poor immune function and death.

The ingredients in Rise Against Hunger meals are also used because they are appropriate for most diets. The meals are rice-based, vegetarian and can be augmented with locally available food and spices.”(Hannah Payne, Public Relations & Communications Manager at Rise Against Hunger)
