Worship Service Opportunities

There are numerous opportunities for you to be involved in service activities at St Timothy's. Please consider how you would like to be more active in parish life with us.

Church Ministries

Altar Guild group is responsible to prepare the altar (set the table) for Communion. Members are assigned to smaller groups on a yearly rotation schedule to procure and/or arrange flowers and maintain the vessels, hangings, adornments, linens, and supplies (washing dishes and taking care of a home) used in worship and Eucharistic services. No prior direct experience required! We offer 'hands on' training and the opportunity to gather and giggle for about an hour on an occasional Saturday and Sunday morning as we get to know each other and do the work of church! Contact Judy Tucker for more information or to join!

Acolytes are Altar servers who carry the torches during worship services. Youth who are in fourth grade or older are eligible

Crucifers are Altar servers who carry the processional cross to begin and end most services and assist the deacon and priest to prepare for communion. Crucifers must be in ninth grade or older.

Lecturers read a lesson during a worship service and are open to those thirteen and older.

Ushers greet everyone, distribute bulletins, take the collection, and direct the congregation with seating and receiving communion for men and women thirteen and over.

Greeters welcome everyone, especially newcomers, introducing them and others to one another, answering questions, and helping worshipers feel comfortable.

Lay Eucharistic Ministers (LEM) are licensed lay participants who read lessons, the Prayers of the People, and assist in administering Communion. LEM are for those eighteen and older.

Visiting Lay Eucharistic Ministers are licensed layperson authorized to take the Consecrated Elements in a timely manner following a Celebration of Holy Eucharist to members of the congregation who, by reason of illness or infirmity, were unable to be present at the Celebration.

Training and scheduling for all acolytes, crucifers, lecturers, LEMs, Visiting LEMs, Ushers, and Greeters are provided. Please contact Susan Holmes for more information or to join.
