Our Programs: Christian Education
Christian Formation for All Ages
All Christian Formation classes start at 9:15am.
Christian Education for Children at St. Timothy's offers a variety of activities designed to teach our children about their Christian heritage and their call to serve. The curriculum, Seasons of the Spirit, follows the Revised Common Lectionary used by the Episcopal Church. The goal is to teach our children about the Episcopal service by helping them see connections between their Sunday school lessons and the readings in church.
A second goal is to provide opportunities for the children to practice stewardship at their own level. Several activities during the year offered ways the children could give to others, including collecting food in honor of Jesus' birthday and making flowers for the women of the church on Mother's Day.
The schedule of classes includes several multi-age Sundays during which all children, ages 3 through grade 6, gather for special group activities. These include a celebration of All Saints' Day, preparation and production of a Christmas program and hands on lessons during Lent.
Junior High and High School students will have a class based on Seasons of the Spirit and other resources. Both junior and senior high school classes will typically be held in the Multipurpose Building. The teachers and others involved are excited to work alongside of our youth as they plan a program which will offer a variety of ways to gather and learn from each other.
Adult Formation Easter and Spring bring to mind a time for renewal and new beginnings. Starting the Sunday after Easter, the Adult
Formation class will offer an opportunity to do both, through a DVD accompanied study
on moving out of your comfort zones. The center of this journey will be based on
the acclaimed book by John Ortberg, "If You Want to Walk on Water, You've Got to
Get out Of The Boat."
From the cover leaf of the book, Walking on water means
facing your fears and choosing not to let fear have the last word. Walking on water
means discovering and embracing the unique calling of God on your life. Walking on water means experiencing the power of God in your life to do something you
would not be capable of doing on your own. Do you want to know Jesus more
deeply and in a different way? Then join us as we discover our comfort zones, how
they and our fears hold us back from experiencing a life in the peace and joy of
Jesus Christ. Who knows, you might just find God here.
