Reaching In to Family and out to Neighbors

Inreach

The Inreach team leads efforts in transporting parishioners to church activities or medical appointments, running errands, visiting at home or hospital, and supporting independent living of our members. Information gathered from a parishioner in need is kept confidential as requested. The coordinator recruits other parishioners or groups within the church, such as Clergy, Unseen Guests, and Lay Eucharistic Ministers, to provide the needed services. Mary Vincent, leads this group.

Unseen Guest

The Unseen Guest teams provide a meal to those parishioners who are homebound on a short term or long term basis or who may just need a quick bite to eat and visit in a pinch. Six teams rotate weekly to prepare or pick up a pre-prepared frozen dinner from the church and deliver. Mary Vincent coordinates this ministry.

Other Supported Outreach

St Timothy's spends a day packaging meals for the mission Stop Hunger Now in a global effort to stop hunger. Adults, youth, and children stand and worked together to fill and pack 15,000 meals. Meals are shipped nationally and internationally.

St Timothy's supports many sponsored ministries and activities on our property. Our Parish Hall has been used by local agencies for retreats and programming. Narcotics Anonymous meets on our campus.

Over the past several years, our church St Timothy's supports scouting, including cub scouts, boy scouts and girl scouts. Boy Scout Troop 46 and Girl Scout Troop 636 meet weekly on our campus. Scouts have active participated with us in our annual Lobster Fair and completed many projects on site towards completion of merit badges. We recognize scouts on Scout Sunday events and invite them, their parents, and scout masters to worship and share a potluck dinner with us. The liaison for scouting is Sharon Paloni.

Diocese of East Carolina

We actively support our Diocese, tithing financially, with members and clergy serving in a variety of leadership and participatory roles. Adults and youth regularly join in Diocesan spiritual events such as Cursillo, New Beginnings, and Happenings at Trinity Center. A renewed energy by our Diocese for Deanery life opens new opportunities with other Episcopal churches in our local region for collaboration on common mission and ministries. Two Delegates from St Timothy's, one lay and one priest, were elected by our Diocese to attend the 2015 General Convention.

Episcopal-Lutheran Campus Ministry

ELCM also known at "The Well" is a ministry for students at East Carolina University and Pitt Community College. St. Timothy's is one of the sponsors along with St. Paul's Episcopal and Our Redeemer Lutheran. They meet every Thursday night at St. Paul's and participate in other volunteer and outreach activities. Parishioners prepare and deliver dinner for the group 3-4 times yearly. Michelle Nanney, from St. Timothy's, serves on the Advisory Board. More information about upcoming events can be found at http://campusministry.ecdio.org .
